Amazon A+ Content image sizes and specs (every Premium module, 2026)

Amazon A+ Content comes in three tiers, Basic, Premium and Brand Story, and each module expects an image at a specific pixel size. Get it wrong and the image is scaled down to the module limit or, if it is too small, rejected. This page lists the sizes Amazon itself publishes: the Premium figures come from Amazon's Premium A+ Module Guide (version 1.0, May 2023), the file rules from the Seller Central A+ Content guidelines, and the Basic sizes from the A+ pages Amazon hosts for KDP, which use the same module set. Where Amazon publishes no figure we say so instead of quoting a forum.

Key takeaways

  • Every A+ image: JPG, BMP or PNG, RGB only (CMYK not supported), under 2 MB, 72 dpi or more, no animated GIFs, no watermarks, no QR codes.
  • Amazon scales oversized images down to the module limit but never scales small ones up, so design at or above the stated size.
  • Premium desktop hero modules want 1,464 × 600 px; the matching mobile image is 600 × 450 px and has to be uploaded separately for carousels, hotspots and some comparison tables.
  • Basic A+ is built around a 970 px-wide canvas: the Image & Text Overlay banner is 970 × 300 px minimum, 1,940 × 600 px suggested.
  • Tier limits: up to 5 Basic modules or 7 Premium modules per ASIN; a Brand Story carousel holds up to 19 cards.

File rules that apply to every module

From the Seller Central A+ Content guidelines: image format .jpg, .bmp or .png; RGB colour space only; each file under 2 MB; resolution 72 dpi or higher. Not allowed: animated images, HTML, CMYK, watermarks, QR codes, hyperlinks or external redirects. Amazon's module guide adds the behaviour that matters for sizing: "images that are too large will be resized to fit the maximum sizes listed for each module, but not if they are smaller than the module limits", and you can crop and scale inside the tool. Approval takes up to seven business days, and content goes live within 24 hours of approval.

Note on DPI: Amazon's KDP pages tell authors to save A+ images at 300 dpi, and the Seller Central guidelines say 72 dpi minimum. For a web image only the pixel dimensions matter; "dpi" is metadata. Hit the pixel size and either dpi value passes.

Premium A+ module sizes (desktop and mobile)

All figures are minimums from Amazon's Premium A+ Module Guide. "Mobile: none" means the module reuses the desktop asset.

Two things to plan for. First, the 1,464 × 600 desktop hero is a 2.44:1 strip, and the 600 × 450 mobile image is 4:3, so a single composition rarely works for both; design the mobile crop as its own file. Second, Premium A+ needs Brand Registry and is applied per ASIN with up to seven modules.

Basic A+ module sizes

Amazon's Seller Central tier table gives Basic A+ an image size of 970 × 300 px against Premium's 1,464 × 600 px, with up to five modules per ASIN from a choice of 14. The module-level figures Amazon publishes on its A+ pages for KDP (same module names, same tool) are:

ModuleSmallest acceptedSuggested
Standard Image & Text Overlay (light or dark)970 × 3001,940 × 600
Standard Single Left / Right Image600 × 180600 × 600

For the other Basic modules (Image Header with Text, Company Logo, Four Image & Text, Single Image & Highlights, Single Image & Sidebar, Multiple Image Module A, Four Image & Text Quadrant) Amazon does not publish a size on its help pages; the A+ Content Manager shows the expected size next to each image slot, and that figure is the only one to trust. Third-party guides disagree with each other on several of these, so do not commission artwork from a blog table.

Brand Story

Brand Story is a carousel in the "From the brand" section with up to 19 cards of predefined formats: a full-width background image, image-and-text cards, and cards linking to products and the storefront. Amazon's public guidelines list the card types but not their pixel sizes; the Brand Story editor shows the size per card. The same file rules apply (JPG/PNG, RGB, under 2 MB).

Matching module sizes to your source images

A straight product photo rarely matches a module's aspect ratio. A 1,464 × 600 hero and a square product photo are different shapes, so you either crop the photo or build a designed graphic around it with the product, background, text and padding laid out on the module canvas. The designed route gives you the final ratio for free and keeps the text inside the safe area; it is also the only way to meet the "images must be unique to A+" rule, since a gallery image reused in a module is a rejection reason.

PicBarn's Amazon infographic images tool builds callout, feature-grid and hero-banner layouts with exact text at 16:9, which exports cleanly to the 1,464 × 600 hero after a crop, and at 1:1 for the gallery; the AI product photography tool produces the lifestyle images for Single Image and carousel panels from the same product photo.

A pre-upload checklist

  1. Open the module in the A+ Content Manager and note the size shown beside the image slot for your account and marketplace.
  2. Export at that size or larger in the same ratio; never smaller.
  3. Confirm JPG or PNG, RGB, under 2 MB.
  4. For Premium carousels, hotspots and Comparison Table 3, export the 600 × 450 mobile image separately.
  5. Check the text at phone size: Amazon rejects text that is too small to read on mobile.
  6. Preview on desktop and mobile in the tool before submitting; allow up to seven business days for approval.

FAQ

What is the image size for Amazon A+ Content? There is no single size. Premium hero modules take 1,464 × 600 px desktop and 600 × 450 px mobile; Basic banners take 970 × 300 px minimum (1,940 × 600 suggested); other modules range from 150 × 300 to 800 × 600. The A+ Content Manager shows the size beside each slot.

What file format does A+ Content need? JPG, BMP or PNG in RGB, under 2 MB each, 72 dpi or more. CMYK, animated GIFs, watermarks and QR codes are rejected.

Does Amazon resize A+ images? Down, yes: images larger than the module limit are scaled to fit. Up, no: images smaller than the module minimum are not enlarged, so export at or above the stated size.

How many modules can I use? Up to five Basic modules or seven Premium modules per ASIN; a Brand Story carousel holds up to 19 cards.
