contains-synthetic-performer tag

contains-synthetic-performer is the keyword Amazon asks sellers to write into an image's IPTC/XMP dc:subject field before uploading any photo that shows a photorealistic AI-generated person.

The requirement appears in Amazon's product image requirements, with a separate tagging guide in Seller Central. It covers any listing image in which a photorealistic person was generated by AI, such as an AI model wearing a jacket or holding a blender.

The scope is narrow and specific. The tag is required for photorealistic AI-generated people. It is not required for real people whose photos were edited with AI, or for people who are not photorealistic, such as illustrations. The tagging guide gives an exiftool command: exiftool -XMP-dc:Subject+=contains-synthetic-performer file.png. The += adds the keyword to any existing subject keywords instead of replacing them.

The most common mistake is losing the tag after adding it. Metadata travels inside the file, so anything that rewrites the file can drop it: some image compressors, screenshotting an image, sending it through a messaging app, or re-exporting from an editor with metadata turned off. Another mistake is assuming A+ Content is covered by the same tag; A+ asset upload has its own "AI-generated people" checkbox.

To check a file before upload, run exiftool -XMP-dc:Subject file.png and confirm the keyword is listed. Tag the final file, after every crop and compression step.

PicBarn writes the contains-synthetic-performer tag into model exports, so if you edit an image afterwards, check the tag again before upload.
