Baby and kids product photos: safety, scale and model rules
Parents buy on safety, size and age suitability, and they read baby product photos more carefully than almost any other buyer. The category also has the strictest model rules, so most of the gallery should show the product, not the child.
The gallery this category needs
- 1
Your own photo of the product on pure white, all included parts shown
Shows exactly what arrives, which parents check against the box.
- 2
In a nursery or playroom setting
Shows the product in the room where it will live and gives a sense of size against furniture.
- 3
Size and age range image with your own dimensions and recommended ages
Age suitability and fit are the first parent questions.
- 4
Materials close-up: fabric, finish, edges and fastenings
Parents inspect edges, seams and materials for safety before they buy.
- 5
How it works: folding, adjusting or assembling
Shows ease of use, which matters for gear handled with one hand and a baby in the other.
- 6
Care image: washable covers, wipe-clean surfaces
Mess is a given, and cleaning is a deciding factor for parents.

Platform rules that bite here
TikTok Shop
Children's swimwear and underwear must be shown flat, with no child models. Use flat lays or product-only images for these listings.
TikTok Shop
AIGC must not imply bundles or quantities or show false scale, so a generated nursery must keep a cot or toy in true proportion.
Amazon
The main image shows the product on pure white with only included accessories, so bedding, toys and décor in a nursery shot stay in the gallery.
Amazon A+
A+ bans "eco-friendly", "biodegradable" and "compostable" claims, and certification claims need the body and year, which covers safety and organic badges.
What gets this category rejected or ignored
- Child models in children's swimwear or underwear listings on TikTok Shop.
- Unsupported safety or organic badges with no certifying body or year.
- Nursery props in the main image that are not included.
- AI scenes that make a toy or cot look larger than it is.
- No age range anywhere in the images.
Questions
Can I use a child model?
Not for children's swimwear or underwear on TikTok Shop, which must be shown flat with no child models. For other products, many sellers show the product alone or with an adult hand to avoid the issue.
Can I use an AI-generated child?
We recommend against it. It adds disclosure duties on Amazon and TikTok, and parents want to see the real product, so product-only and nursery scenes are the safer gallery.
How do I show the age range?
Put it in real text on a size and age image using the range on your own packaging. Keep it off the main image.
Which scene suits baby products?
A nursery shelf for décor, toys and storage, a cosy living room for play mats and gear, and studio white for anything with fine detail.
